Staff recognized with 2025 CSE Excellence ++ Award

These individuals embody the professionalism and insight that enable the efficient operation of one of the largest units at the College of Engineering.

The CSE Division is pleased to announce that three staff have been selected as recipients of the 2025 CSE Staff Excellence++ Award. These individuals were chosen on the basis of their strong commitment, dependability, and extraordinary levels of contribution, and for their efforts to create a positive and inclusive culture in CSE, all of which are identified as criteria for nomination to this award.

All three of these individuals have proven themselves integral to the efficient operation of one of the largest units at the College of Engineering, and in doing so have helped our community to thrive.

One of the awardees has asked not to be named in this announcement. See below for details regarding the other two recipients.

Yili Lin
Undergraduate Program Advisor

Yili has played multiple critical roles in the transition of the undergraduate advising office over the past four plus years. She joined CSE as an administrative assistant, and took on the responsibility of being the first point of contact for many of our undergraduate students. In that role, she handled an extremely high volume of emails and override requests in an effective manner. Recognizing inefficiencies in initial processes, Yili took matters into her own hands and drafted plans for how CSE could improve the administrative procedures of the UAO, and set up the next generation of administrative assistants for success and a more manageable workload.

As an advisor, Yili has demonstrated a great ability to support our undergraduate students. She provides more information than is often expected in each advising appointment, has developed a thorough followup process, and aims to continually develop a more inclusive environment for students. With an eye toward creative solutions for staff and students, Yili worked with various campus partners this year to develop and implement a CSE UAO chatbot tool, a virtual space for students to get quick and easy answers to various advising related questions. This was a massive undertaking that she led entirely on her own.

Jasmin Stubblefield
Graduate Programs Manager

Jasmin manages CSE’s graduate program programs office, which supports hundreds of master’s and PhD students. In addition to playing a central role in attracting and supporting students, Jasmin has been instrumental in identifying and acting on areas where the graduate programs can function, prosper, and evolve. She has helped the division to craft, implement, and deploy new policies along those lines. In one instance, Jasmin played a critical role in overhauling the student evaluation process, which did not adequately identify students who are thriving versus students who would benefit from additional support. Jasmin worked with the graduate committee, the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies, and with DCO  to overhaul the evaluation process and interface.

Jasmin also challenges us to live our HACKS values. She does not shy away from asking people to sit with challenging ideas and rethink their understanding of what should constitute the status quo.  Her interactions with our students have helped us to promote a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment, and students often report that because of their trust in Jasmin she is the first person they turn to with questions or concerns about their PhD experience or the department in general.
