Precision Health at the University of Michigan (U-M) invites you to engage with two outstanding Scholars who have been funded by Precision Health to develop their research.

• Arun Subramaniyan, BE, MS (graduate student, College of Engineering): “Accelerated Systems for Precision Health”
• Alyse Krausz, BS, MS (graduate student research assistant, Biomedical Engineering): “ A Variable-height Microfluidic Device for Multiplexed Immunoassay Analysis of Traumatic Brain Injury Biomarkers”

You’ll hear more about their work and how they used Precision Health resources in their innovative projects.

Arun Subramaniyan is a fifth-year Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan, advised by Prof. Reetuparna Das. His dissertation research focuses on developing efficient algorithms and customized computing systems for precision health. He is a 2018 Precision Health Scholar. His work has also been recognized by Rackham’s International Students Fellowship and the IEEE Micro Top Picks Award, awarded annually to some of the most significant research papers in computer architecture.

Alyse Krausz graduated from The Ohio State University in 2016 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. She is currently finishing her PhD in Biomedical Engineering in the lab of Professor Mark Burns and plans to defend her dissertation in July. Alyse’s research focuses on the development of point-of-care microfluidic technologies. She was previously a Microfluidics in Biomedical Sciences Training Program (MBSTP) fellow, and in 2019, she received a Precision Health Scholars Award for her work applying microfluidics to the quantification of traumatic brain injury biomarkers.

The U-M Precision Health Seminar Series invites expert speakers to share meaningful, relevant, and late-breaking research on varied aspects of precision health. The interdisciplinary educational series, which takes place monthly during the academic year, features topics ranging from genetics to big data to health implementation (and much more) and is open to students, faculty, practitioners, staff, trainees, and the general public. Our goal is to increase understanding of precision health data, tools, and applications, to engage the academic community to enhance precision health research, and to support the implementation of precision health to health systems.
