Abstract – The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) invests in high-risk/high-payoff research programs that have the potential to provide our nation with an overwhelming intelligence advantage over future adversaries. Dr. Porter will provide an overview of IARPA’s mission, technical problems of interest to IARPA, and how to engage with IARPA to address/solve these problems.

Biography – Dr. Lisa Porter became the first IARPA director on February 4, 2008. Previously, she was NASA’s associate administrator for the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate. She co-chaired the National Science & Technology Council’s Aeronautics Science & Technology Subcommittee and helped to lead the development of the nation’s first Presidential Aeronautics R&D Policy.

Prior to her time at NASA, Dr. Porter served at DARPA. Dr. Porter has a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from MIT, a doctorate in applied physics from Stanford, and has authored more than 25 publications on a broad range of technical subjects.
