Comsol Hands-on Workshop on Microfluidic Devices

Dr. Ahsan MunirApplication EngineerCOMSOL
SHARE:

In this Workshop, we will focus on COMSOL's Microfluidics Module which encompasses easy-to-use tools for the study microfluidic devices. Important applications include simulations of lab-on-a-chip devices, digital microfluidics, electrokinetic and magnetokinetic devices, inkjets, and micro-pumps.

The first half of the workshop will focus on COMSOL's general purpose multiphysics features which will be used to set up coupled electorkinetic and magnetodynamic simulations including electrophoresis, magnetophoresis, dielectrophoresis, electroosmosis, and electrowetting.
The second half of the workshop will be a hands-on session, where the participants will be made to work on the simulation of an Electroosmotic Mixer. Users will be able to learn to simulate Microfluidics problems from the experts.

A free evaluation license for COMSOL Multiphysics 4.3a will be provided to all the participants.

Ahsan Munir holds a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). He also holds MS and BS degree in Petro-Chemical Engineering & Technology. He has been involved in research related microfluidics, magneto-hydrodynamics, biosensors and lab-on-a-chip devices. He has also worked in the area of chemical process and product design at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) as a guest researcher. At COMSOL, Ahsan is working as an Applications Engineer.
