Advances in Artificial Intelligence are being felt throughout society and our economy. Some of the most significant impacts are in the domain of finance, including financial markets, financial services, and the financial system more broadly. Autonomous agents have made major inroads through algorithmic trading in financial markets, and AI methods are playing an increasing role in lending decisions and detecting financial malfeasance. Understanding the implications of AI for finance is important in its own right, and as a case study for AI implications more broadly.
